16 Months

Our little girl is growing up so fast.  I'm amazed every day by how happy she is and how much she soaks up on a daily basis.  Ronnie mentioned the other day that we really need to watch what we say around her.  She's understanding and repeating EVERYTHING!  I'm even afraid she is going to learn the spelling of words soon, so we won't be able to spell things we don't want her to hear.  Okay, that's a little crazy, but it was a thought I had.

The newest thing that amazed me was Alexandria's ability to recognize circles.  Two days ago, she was helping me put toilet paper in the bathroom and I thought she said circle when she held up a roll of paper.  Yesterday, she pointed to a boy inside a circle in book Ronnie bought her and when I asked her what she was pointing to she said circle.  I thought she was going to say baby or boy.  That was a pleasant surprise!

Alexandria is able to say a few sentences/phrases.  These are the only three I can recall now.  I need to start writing her words down again.
  • Yes, I do.
  • I want it.
  • Up, please.
We started putting her on the potty around 12 months.  We aren't very consistent, but we make a big deal out of it when she goes on the potty.  I don't think she understands the concept of pee yet, but she sometimes says "I poop" before going, so we have time to put her on the potty.

I wanted to update this blog before I put it off again.  There's much more I want to write, but if I wait to post this I might never do it.

19 Weeks

Our baby girl turns 19 Weeks today!  I can't believe I haven't posted anything in months!  Alexandria's doing great.  At her last doctor's appointment on January 10th she weighed 13 pounds and 8 ounces and was 24 inches long.  I love her chunky little legs and cheeks!  There are so many fun things about her, I don't know where to begin.  I feel like she does something new every day.  She started giggling again yesterday.  I don't know where her giggles went, but they were gone for a few weeks.  We think she has been teething for a while now since she drools and bites on anything she can.  She talks all the time and seems to love her voice as much as we do.  Her favorite thing to do seems to be reading.  She wildly shakes her legs as soon as we put a book in front of her and reaches out to touch it while we read.  I even think she tries to turn the pages!  Today, she took a nap in her crib for the first time.  I'm not ready to have her sleep in her bedroom, but napping I can handle.

Motherhood is fantastic.  I can't wait to see what she is going to do next!

Happy Fall!

Alexandria arrived on September 11 at 10:40 PM.  Our lives have forever changed.  It's hard to describe how it feels to have her here, and I can't remember life without Alexandria.  The only way I can think to describe it is that warm fuzzy feeling I used to get when I was younger on the holidays...family, presents, food, music...I feel this every day.  It's like I'm seeing everything for the first time.  I've also never been so tired in my life - I forget conversations I've had with people and I pretty much can't function after about 6 PM.  How am I ever going to go back to work?!

And now, my reason for thinking about writing this blog post today.  Alexandria rolled from her tummy to her back yesterday!!!  I couldn't believe it!  When she did it a second time, I knew I wasn't crazy.

Week 31 (a little early)

I've been loving this whole experience! It's sooo much fun to read to Alexandria, to "talk" to her, to dance with her at a recent wedding. Makes me tear up to think... hey, in a few months, I'll be able to do all these things with her in my arms! Such an exciting time! It's pretty fun to feel her moving about. To give her raspberries and make Michelle giggle. To feel her (something) press against my face when I'm talking to her trying to get her to move. Ahh... 2 months, but seems like an eternity (though, it feels like it's just right). I can't wait to meet her, but am going to miss her this way as well. I pray that I'm able to grow old with her around so I can tell her how wonderful it was to get to know her prior to her arrival!

Week 30

Yikes!  Time is moving so quickly now.  During the first few months, it felt as though time had stopped.  I couldn't imagine the day when our baby would be here or the day when I would stop feeling so ill all day and night.  I longingly waited for that baby bump to appear because I wanted to look pregnant and I wanted another sign that I was pregnant other than feeling sick.  Now, I wish I could make time stand still.  As excited as I am to meet Alexandria, I'm not ready to stop feeling her move around inside me where I know she is safe and happy.
